Norris Cylinder manufactures a complete line of high-pressure cylinders sold into the United States and global industrial gases (IG) markets. We proudly serve all of the major (Tier 1) IG gas companies as well as companies focused on regional markets throughout the world.

Some of the more common industrial gases are Oxygen, Nitrogen, Carbon Dioxide, Hydrogen, and the so-called noble gases (Helium, Argon, Neon, Krypton, Xenon, and Radon). The following industrial gases and applications are a few examples of how our customers around the world are storing and distributing their mission-critical molecules in our high-pressure steel cylinders:

O2 is the second-largest volume industrial gas. It makes up about 20.94% of the air we breathe. O2 is generally produced in gaseous form or in liquid form as a cryogenic gas. It has numerous uses in steelmaking and other metals refining and fabrication processes, in chemicals, pharmaceuticals, petroleum processing, glass and ceramic manufacture, and pulp and paper manufacture. O2 is used for environmental protection in municipal and industrial treatment plants and facilities. It also has uses in healthcare, including hospitals, outpatient treatment centers and home care. Other uses are in combination with fuel gases in welding and cutting. The above examples are just some of the uses of O2 as an industrial gas. Nitrogen is consumed more than any other industrial gas. It makes up 78.09% of the air we breathe. It is used in a broad range of industries including chemicals, pharmaceuticals, petroleum processing, glass and ceramic manufacture, steel making, and metals refining and fabrication processes, pulp and paper manufacture, and healthcare. Additionally, because of the inert properties of nitrogen, it makes an ideal blanketing gas in many applications. Nitrogen is valued for its coldness as well as its inertness. In its liquid (cryogenic) state, nitrogen (LIN) has a boiling point of -195.79C and has numerous applications for freezing substances, including food. LIN is also used in various cryobiology applications for storage and preservation of cells, blood, and a large array of biological samples and materials. CO2 is a slightly toxic, odorless, and colorless gas. It is a small but important constituent of air (.040%), and necessary for plant life, which removes CO2 from the air using the process of photosynthesis. It has multiple uses in many different applications, including manufacturing, metals, chemicals, pharmaceutical, petroleum, rubber and plastics, healthcare, and food and beverage markets to name a few. In its solid and liquid form, it can be used for refrigeration and cooling, and because of its inert nature, it is widely used in fire suppression markets. Norris Cylinder manufactures a wide variety of specialized CO2 cylinders with 1800 PSI (138 Bar) and CO2 gas capacities between 2.5 LBS (1.13KG) and 100 LBS (45.4KG).
H2 is by far the most abundant element in the universe, however it is almost absent from the atmosphere as an individual molecule. On Earth, H2 shows up mostly as part of water. Termed “The Fuel of the Future” due to its abundance and non-polluting combustion products, new applications for fuel cells for power generation are being developed at a rapid pace. Norris Cylinder has a team of Engineers, capable of working jointly with its customers to design customized cylinder solutions for many innovative applications in the fuel cell market. In addition to environmentally friendly transportation and storage applications, H2 is also used in the metals, chemical, petroleum, pharmaceutical, electronics, glass, food, and beverage markets. Argon is classified as a rare gas. It is a colorless, odorless gas, and is present in the air we breathe at a concentration of just under 1%. Ar is, however, the most abundant truly inert gas in the atmosphere. Its uses range from shielding gas for welding and plasma-arc cutting, to metals manufacturing, filler gas for windows and fluorescent and incandescent light bulbs, food and beverage (including wine-making), healthcare (cryosurgery), and a host of other numerous industrial gas applications. Helium is the second most abundant element in the universe and is also the second lightest, following hydrogen in both cases. It is used as an inflation gas for blimps, and party and scientific balloons. He can be used as a shield gas for arc welding, purging, modern electronics, cooling the superconducting magnets in MRI machines, space shuttles, and the next generation of nuclear reactors. Ne, Kr, and Xe, are known for their light molecular weight and their inability to bind with other materials to form solid or liquid compounds. This characteristic makes these gases well-suited for filling applications like neon lights, halogen sealed beam head lights (Kr), and high-intensity aviation approach lights and plasma display panels (Xe), to name a few.
